The State of Missouri, as a self-insurer, administers its workers' compensation program through the Office of Administration, Central Accident Reporting Office (CARO). The program covers all State employees as defined in 105.800 RSMO., excluding employees within the Department of Transportation, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the University of Missouri system.
The CARO office is devoted to providing timely workers' compensation benefits to State team members and the agencies it serves. CARO utilizes a preferred provider network, a nurse triage referral service, and case management to assist in providing prompt quality medical care in an economical manner.
CARO's Workplace Injury Reporting Portal provides injured State team members a simplified, user-friendly interface for reporting workplace injuries.
State team members must immediately inform their supervisor of any injuries sustained in the workplace. Injured State team members should then visit CARO's Workplace Injury Portal to report the injury and begin the claims process.
